After all the adventure campers enjoy some toasted marshmallows around a campfire, a counsellor asks everyone to pair up for a night hike and hands out lights. The trail leads through some trees and into the open near a stream, where Kirsty is the first to see a small swan shimmering in the moonlight. Realising it’s the magic Snow Swan, she and Rachel step aside to let the other campers pass them, planning to catch the swan and bring her to Fairyland. Unfortunately, Kirsty steps on a twig and startles the swan into flight.

Sophia the Snow Swan Fairy flies out of a nearby flower, saying she’s sensed Belle the snow swan. Rachel tells her they’ve seen Belle, but before the three can do anything a counselor comes along the path to make sure the girls haven’t fallen behind. When they join the other campers with Sophia safely hidden in Kirsty’s pocket, a girl named Anna tells the girls she thought she saw a strange creature - her description sounds like a goblin. Her partner Lucy jokes about little green Martians before she and Anna continue down the path.

The girls are left wondering what to do - they can’t hang back without the counsellors getting worried, but they also can’t risk any campers seeing Sophia. The stream turns to a river and goes over a waterfall, and the girls see Belle take flight again while the counsellor instructs the campers to walk slowly along a path that leads to the bottom of the waterfall. Once everyone has started down the path, Sophia turns the girls into fairies and they begin to fly down on the opposite side of the falls, careful not to be seen or get too close to the water. They see Belle a ways downriver, but three Goblins have also noticed her. One of them uses the goblins’ wand to make an icy bridge to reach the snow swan and then traps her in a cage made of icicles. Belle lets out a low, sad song, and Sophia tells the girls the pitch of a snow swan’s song changes with its mood.

Sophia says she thinks she can melt the cage with her magic if the girls distract the goblins, so Rachel and Kirsty begin flitting around the goblins’ heads. It seems to be working, but then the goblin with the wand uses it to coat Rachel in ice and Sophia has to leave the cage to rescue her before she can fall. The goblins run back across the bridge before the ice breaks apart, which gives Kirsty an idea. She asks Sophia if there’s a way to make Belle sing high enough to shatter her icy cage, and Sophia eagerly begins singing Belle’s favorite song. The swan answers her, and both the girls and the goblins have to cover their ears as Belle’s voice gets higher and higher until the cage bursts open on the ground. Belle tries to take off, but the nearest goblin lunges for her and manages to grab her.

Belle looks sadly into the goblin’s eyes and begins singing a different melody, one Sophia identifies as the snow swan’s compassion magic at work. His face softening, the goblin opens his arms and lets Belle fly straight to Sophia, to the other goblins’ great annoyance. Sophia threatens that Belle will sing high pitched and hurt their ears if they try any more tricks, and both goblins flee in time for Sophia to turn the girls human just before the other campers catch up.
