Kirsty, Rachel, and some other campers are riding ponies along a trail, enjoying the woods and wildlife around them. Suddenly, the pony ahead of them spooks and rears, and the girls have to turn onto a side trail to avoid a collision. Kirsty catches a glimpse of something that might be a goblin, and she and Rachel decide to let the others pass and look around. It isn’t long until two Goblins emerge from the undergrowth; one asks if either of the girls’ ponies is a unicorn and the other calls him stupid for not noticing the ponies don’t have horns. One goblin gets too close and spooks Rachel’s pony Sparkle, who begins to run away. She remembers how to tell the pony to stop, but Sparkle stops so suddenly that Rachel falls of, injuring her wrist. Kirsty catches up and is about to go for help when the missing magical unicorn appears and heals Rachel’s wrist with sparkling golden magic. When the riding instructor comes looking for the girls, the unicorn runs away out of sight.

The girls bring their ponies back to the camp stables with the others, and soon overhear two other girls talking about a unicorn they saw near the camp’s amphitheatre. They conclude it must be a prank pulled by a counsellor, but Rachel and Kirsty know better. The riding instructor sends Rachel to the camp nurse to make sure she isn’t hurt, and Kirsty hears the nurse remark she hasn’t seen any patients with even minor injuries that day (which the girls know must be the unicorn’s healing magic at work). The nurse offers Rachel a lollipop, and when Rachel chooses one she finds Leona the Unicorn Fairy holding onto it. Smuggling the fairy outside, the girls bring Leona to the amphitheatre, explaining they have seen Twisty the unicorn already.

At the amphitheatre, some campers dressed as fairies are rehearsing a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Overhearing them, the girls learn that more people have seen the unicorn and the two goblins and assumed it’s a pony and two campers in costumes for the play or a prank. The unicorn was last seen at the camp clubhouse, so the girls go there next and hear from two more campers that saw the unicorn in different places. Back outside, Kirsty decides to search the sports pitch with Rachel while Leona searches the lakeshore.

The girls find Twisty near the sports pitch and Rachel leads him all the way to the stables with a carrot she had left over from the trail ride. In the stable, they find a note that claims the goblins have Leona and will trade her for the unicorn behind the stables. When the girls find the goblins, it’s soon apparent that they don’t really have Leona, just a jar of glitter. Leona herself arrives and the goblin with the jar begins pelting her with glitter, making it hard for her to fly. While Rachel holds onto Twisty, Kirsty calls out to the ponies they rode earlier, who whinny in answer. The goblins are scared by the loud ponies and try to run, but the bigger one makes one last grab for Leona, misses, and lands in a pile of manure. Twisty graciously heals the goblin’s injured ankle on his way to join Leona and return to Fairyland.
