Delayed publication

Kat was first announced in 2016, and was due to be published on 1 June 2017, the same day as Sianne the Butterfly Fairy. However, this proved to be a mistake as her publish date has changed numerous times:

  • The next publish date was 6 September 2018.
  • The next publish date was 5 September 2019.
  • The next publish date was 1 January 2019.
  • The most recent publish date is 11 June 2020, 3 years from when she was originally meant to be published.

Representatives of Orchard Books have said this is because of the need to publish other Specials sooner, due to trends in the market that will help sell the most copies.

On the other hand, because a sample of her story was shown at the end of Billie the Baby Goat Fairy, this may mean there was a problem in production, and that she was intended to be published on her original date.

Trivia

  • Kat resembles Katy Perry in her 2013 music video "Roar".
  • She was first announced in 2016, meaning it will take 4 years for her to be released, the longest for any Rainbow Magic book.
    • Between her original publish date and her final publish date, 12 Special fairies will have been published.
