Kat the Jungle Fairy is the 57th fairy in the Holiday Special Fairies series.
Description[]
Kat the Jungle Fairy looks after tropical jungles in the fairy and human worlds. But when Jack Frost and his goblins steal her magical objects, jungles everywhere are in danger! Can Kirsty and Rachel help get them back and save all the tropical plants and animals?
Appearance[]
Kat has long black hair with a flower crown. She wears a leopard print vest top with armbands, a green leaf skirt, and long tan sandals. Her wings are pointed and green-tinted.
Symbol: Flowers and leaves
Magic Objects/Job[]
Magic Objects:
- Golden Sundial: keeps the weather right for different environments.
- Woven Garden Basket: ensures there is enough food for jungle animals.
- Red Orchid: protects the jungle from the outside world.
Job: Looking after jungles all around the world, including the animals and plants.
Jack Frost's Poem[]
Goblins, have a stealing spree,
To make Kat pay for scolding me.
Take her things and leave no trace.
It’s time this fairy knew her place.
Tear down the plants and trees today,
Fill jungle creatures with dismay.
My wild revenge has now begun.
We won’t let fairies spoil our fun!
Story Summary[]
Delayed publication[]
Kat was first announced in 2016, and was due to be published on 1 June 2017, the same day as Sianne the Butterfly Fairy. However, this proved to be a mistake as her publish date has changed numerous times:
- The next publish date was 6 September 2018.
- The next publish date was 5 September 2019.
- The next publish date was 1 January 2019.
- The next publish date was 11 June 2020.
- The next publish date was 10 June 2021
- The most recent publish date is 4 August 2022, 5 years from when she was originally meant to be published.
Representatives of Orchard Books have said this is because of the need to publish other Specials sooner due to trends in the market that will help sell the most copies.
On the other hand, because a sample of her story was shown at the end of Billie the Baby Goat Fairy, this may mean there was a problem in production, and that she was intended to be published on her original date.
Trivia[]
- Kat resembles Katy Perry in her 2013 music video "Roar".
- She was first announced in 2016, meaning it will take 6 years for her to be released, the longest for any Rainbow Magic book.
- Between her original publish date and her final publish date, 17 Holiday Special fairies will have been published.
