Fairy Profile from the Official RM Facebook Page[]

Samantha can appear as pale pink sparkles to unsuspecting humans. Her Magic goggles help keep everyone's head above water by helping them swim well. Her wand makes a trail of powder-pink fairy dust and sparkling bubbles. Samantha is always challenging herself to get better at everything she does. She encourages everyone to do their best, and not to get discouraged if their best doesn't put them on the winner's podium. Samantha says everyone is a winner if they do their best. She's sometimes accused of looking at the world through rose-colored goggles.

Blurb[]

The goblins have stolen Samantha the Swimming Fairy's Magic Goggles, so everyone is finding it really tricky to swim well! How can Kirsty and Rachel help?

Samantha has light brown skin with long, black hair. She wears a pink sarong-style skirt over a black swimming costume with pink, sparkly details, an anklet, and pink swimming goggles perched on her head. On a hot day, Rachel and Kirsty are playing fetch with Rachel’s dog Buttons, when Mrs Walker suggests it would be a good day to go swimming. Because the Tippington Pool is closed for maintenance and the Walkers’ car is in the shop, Rachel’s parents can’t drive them to the pool at the next town over, but they allow the girls to take a bus there so long as Rachel brings her mobile phone. The bus happens to stop at a traffic light near the Tippington Pool, and from her high bus seat Kirsty catches a glimpse of a goblin through one of the high windows and the girls get off the bus at the next stop to investigate.

Peering through the tinted windows lower down, the girls can see several goblins playing in the two pools inside. They follow another goblin up a tree and through an open window to enter the locked building, and Rachel leads the way to the open room where the pools are. In the smaller, shallower pool, seven goblins are practising a synchronised swimming routine, but none of their goggles look at all sparkly or magical. The girls sneak past when the goblins are busy doing handstands and hide closer to the larger pool, and Rachel notices something pink and sparkly atop a pile of floats. This turns out to be not the magic goggles but Samantha the Swimming Fairy, who greets the girls and magically changes their clothes to sparkly swimsuits.

Samantha and the girls hide behind the spectator seating to look for the goggles, and find them clutched in the hand of a goblin wearing a lifeguard shirt who’s busy bossing the other goblins around. Samantha turns the girls into fairies and they sneak up behind the lifeguard chair as another goblin asks to use the magic goggles on the waterslide and is denied. But before the three fairies can reach the goggles, the lifeguard goblin puts them on and jumps in to rescue another goblin calling for help in the deep end. Neither the rescued goblin nor the lifeguard goblin notice the goblin who wanted the magic goggles for the waterslide, who sneaks up behind the lifeguard goblin and snatches the goggles just as the other two goblins climb out of the pool. Samantha and the girls fly after the goblin with the goggles as he climbs the stairs to the waterslide, trying to push past the ones ahead of him. Overhearing an argument over a ring float between two goblins below her, Rachel comes up with a plan. At her suggestion, Samantha conjures another ring float that will turn just big enough to trap the goblin’s arms against his sides, then makes the goblin’s swim shorts glow blue so they’ll know which goblin to catch coming out of the slide.

As Samantha makes the ring float grow to the size they need, though, a goblin in the pool notices the three fairies and alerts the other goblins, who all begin swimming towards the slide. Samantha conjures several large waves pushing them towards the shallow end, followed by enough bodyboards and other toys to completely distract the goblins as they ride the waves all the way across the pool. She and the girls turn their attention back to the slide just in time to catch the goblin with the Magic Goggles in the ring float and retrieve the goggles from his head. Once the fairies are out of the goblins’ reach, Samantha’s magic stops the waves, frees the trapped goblin from the ring float, and sends all the other floats and toys into a cupboard as the goblins climb out of the pool and leave. The girls exit through the open window where Samantha turns them human and returns their clothes to normal, then gives them two magic tickets that will transport them right to the pool they’d meant to go to.
