Fairy Profile from the Official RM Facebook Page[]

India teaches Dream Magic to all the other fairies, so they can be sure that children's sleep is filled with pleasant dreams instead of scary nightmares. She wears a white dress, which shimmers pink and blue every time she moves. A wave of her wand sends out a shower of cream-colored sweet dream dust that sparkles with flecks of pink and blue.
India is very calm and relaxed. She believes in the benefits of an early bedtime, and is adept at interpreting even the strangest dreams.

Blurb[]

Disaster has struck Fairyland! Jack Frost's goblins have stolen the jewels from Queen Titania's crown. The fairies' magical powers are fading, can Rachel and Kirsty help get them back?

Appearance[]

India has long brown hair with a magenta flower hair clip and wears a white dress (that shimmers from pink to blue when she moves) with a dark magenta flower, pink sandals with a moonstone, and a necklace with a moonstone. Her wings are round and light pink-tinted.

Rachel is shaken awake from a nightmare about goblins by Kirsty, who is staying at her house over a weeklong school break. The girls wonder aloud if there’s trouble in Fairyland, and as if to answer the question, their fairy lockets begin to glow pink. Both girls open their lockets and a swirl of fairy dust brings them straight to Fairyland. There, Queen Titania informs the girls that every year all the fairies in Fairyland have a parade and then recharge their magic from the seven jewels from the queen’s crown. But two nights ago, Jack Frost stole the jewels - since the parade is only a week away, each kind of magic provided by the jewels is running low. The queen shows the girls in the golden pool how Jack Frost took the jewels, coated them in ice, and brought them to his ice castle, where the heat and light of the magical gems began melting everything nearby. So Jack Frost sent the jewels to the human world, with goblins to guard them. Since seeing magic is powered by the missing emerald, the pool is only able to show where one jewel - the moonstone that powers dream magic - landed; in a backyard that Rachel recognises as belonging to her neighbours the Palmers, who she often babysits for. India the Moonstone Fairy, who had been listening with the other Jewel Fairies nearby, is excited to hear this. The king and queen introduce the other Jewel Fairies and then send India to Rachel’s house with the girls.

Rachel and Kirsty change out of their pajamas and decide to throw a ball over the Palmers’ fence after breakfast as a reason to enter their backyard. Rachel leads the way three doors down and tosses a tennis ball over the fence, then knocks on the door while India hides in Kirsty’s pocket. Mrs. Palmer greets them and tells Rachel that baby Ellie is out back in her stroller. Rachel says hi to the baby while Kirsty and India look for the moonstone, then a chill in the air makes Ellie start to cry. Mrs. Palmer rushes to bring the baby inside, telling Rachel that Ellie’s been having trouble sleeping until they got a new mobile for the stroller. Rachel looks closely and discovers that one of the dangling moons in the mobile is actually the magic moonstone, and she runs to tell Kirsty and India.

The moment Mrs. Palmer and Ellie are inside, though, two knee-high goblins burst out of the garden shed and make a dash for the stroller. One goblin gets tangled in the baby blankets inside as he tries to grab the moonstone, and the other struggles to steer as he pushes the stroller away from the pursuing girls. Then the stroller hits a rock and flips over, sending both goblins flying; they land near a pine tree with a baby blanket tangled around them. India uses the last of her dream magic to make them sleepy, which almost doesn’t work as they begin to argue over who should sing the other a lullaby. Kirsty quickly comes up with one and sings “Rock a bye Goblins” as Rachel tucks the blanket around them. With a bit of fairy dust, India hides the goblins under the tree, then retrieves her moonstone from the mobile. Creating an identical bauble for the mobile with her wand, India sends the moonstone back to Fairyland and then returns there herself. The girls resolve to find the other jewels, glad that Rachel won’t have more nightmares with the moonstone back where it belongs.

Trivia[]

  • When all of the Jewel Fairies' jewels are in Queen Titania's tiara, a magic rainbow is formed once a year. The fairies use this to recharge their magic.
  • India's job is quite similar to that of Sabrina the Sweet Dreams Fairy.
