Chloe teaches Changing and Transforming Magic to the fairies of Fairyland, so that they have the skills to change objects from one thing to another. A brilliant beam of orange and gold sparkles from her wand never fails to create a surprise. Chloe is very quick witted and has blazing fast reflexes - important assets when things around you are forever transforming into something else in the wink of an eye.

Chloe has dark brown skin with shoulder-length wavy black hair, pushed back by a red headband, and brown eyes. She wears a bright orange long-sleeved wrap-around top with a yellow ruffled skirt and orange high heels. She wears a yellow necklace with an orange topaz. Her wings are orange-tinted.

Kirsty in the costume shop with Maggie
After going bowling with Rachel’s friend Isabel, Kirsty and Rachel are waiting for the bus when Kirsty spies a costume shop. A young boy passing by tells his mum that the goblin costume in the window had moved, catching the girls’ attention. Sure enough, the mannequins for a witch costume and a goblin costume in the window are actually goblins. The girls enter the store and tell the lady at the counter that they’re looking for costumes for a party (which is true; Isabel has invited them both to a party at the end of the week). The lady, who introduces herself as Maggie, shows Kirsty some cat costumes and helps her choose one while Rachel looks for the magical jewel she suspects is in the store. A glittery treasure chest near some pirate costumes looks like a likely place, but when she opens it she finds Chloe the Topaz Fairy instead. Rachel quickly tells Chloe about the goblins and hides her while Maggie comes back with Kirsty dressed as a cat. When Maggie goes to the back room to look for cat ears, Rachel introduces Chloe to Kirsty and the three make plans of where else in the store to look. Kirsty heads for a queen costume with a bejewelled crown, while Rachel checks a bucket of pretend fairy wands. Maggie returns with the cat ears, and Kirsty tells her she’s changed her mind and wants to try on the queen costume instead. Maggie removes the queen costume from its mannequin - as she passes the goblins in the window, the witch costume becomes a suit of armour.
The crown becomes a turban
Maggie notices the armour - luckily she didn’t see it change - and is momentarily puzzled as she unfolds the bundled queen costume. This time, a pretend bow and arrows becomes a bagpipe and some earrings become striped candies. Kirsty realises the magic topaz must be in the queen costume, and so does the armoured goblin, who tries to sneak up on Maggie from behind. When she turns, he grabs a plastic sword and pretends to be another display. To distract Maggie, Kirsty asks to try on the queen costume, noticing the golden stone in its crown that must be the topaz. Maggie goes back to look for a matching scepter, and Kirsty calls softly for Rachel and Chloe just as the crown on her head becomes a turban. None of them notice the armoured goblin sneaking closer until he grabs the turban from Kirsty’s head and a chase ensues.
Clumsy goblins
The armoured goblin trips over his shoes and knocks over a stack of pumpkin shaped buckets, sending the turban flying. The topaz falls off the turban and changes all the pumpkins into pineapples - Chloe sees the jewel first, but the other goblin scoops it up, yelling because it’s too hot. His costume becomes a teddy bear costume with padded paws while the other goblin wiggles out of the armor and it looks like both goblins will escape, but Rachel rolls a pineapple like a bowling ball and knocks both of them over before they reach the door. The topaz sails through the air, turning the overhead lights into disco balls, and Chloe catches the heavy gem and lands in Kirsty’s hands. Just then, Maggie calls from the stockroom that she’s found a sceptre and will be out as soon as she straightens some boxes. Quickly, Chloe recharges her wand and changes everything in the store back to normal, except the goblins, whom she threatens to turn into pink bunny rabbits if they don’t leave the store right away. They flee, and the girls hide Chloe and the topaz in their pockets when Maggie returns. Rachel tells her she’s decided she wants a fairy costume, and Kirsty says she wants one too. Once the girls pay for their costumes and are out of Maggie’s sight, Chloe returns the topaz to Fairyland before leaving herself. The girls notice she left a small disco ball behind on purpose before they leave to catch the bus.
