Emily the Emerald Fairy is the third fairy in the Jewel Fairies series.

Fairy Profile from the Official RM Facebook Page[]

Emily teaches Seeing Magic to all the other fairies, so they can see far into the future or just around the corner. A shower of green sparkles from her wand can turn a mirror, or a puddle, or any reflective surface into a crystal ball that will reveal the future.
You'd think having the ability to see things before they happen would make it hard to surprise her, but Emily still finds the world is full of unexpected events and wondrous discoveries.

Blurb[]

Emily the Emerald Fairy can't see the future in pools without her magic jewel. When Rachel and Kirsty start catching glimpses of the future, they realise the emerald can't be far away...

Appearance[]

Emily has long, red hair pinned back by a green dragonfly-shaped clip and green eyes. She wears an emerald-green dress, green ballet shoes with ribbons, and an emerald pendant. Her wings are green-tinted.

Magical object/Job[]

Magic object: A green emerald

Job: Controlling seeing magic that affects the future.

Rachel and her father have brought Kirsty to a large toy store in Tippington. Mr. Walker heads for the toy train section to buy a present for his godson Mark’s birthday while the girls wander towards a roped off section for trying out remote control cars. An enthusiastic couple are talking about buying one for their son Stuart, and both girls notice a nearby mirror begin to shimmer and show a moving picture of a little boy playing with the same toy. It disappears after a few seconds, then a little girl accidentally spills some bubble mix nearby. In the spilled puddle of soap, Rachel and Kirsty can see the same little girl happily blowing bubbles outdoors. They conclude that a magic jewel must be nearby - Kirsty remembers the emerald powers seeing magic - and just then Emily the Emerald Fairy greets them from inside a toy train on an overhead track. The girls tell her what they’ve been seeing and hide Emily in Rachel’s pocket while they look for the magic emerald. A doll’s green necklace and a green-lit computer game briefly fool them, but they don’t find the emerald anywhere on the bottom floor, so Rachel leads the way to the elevator.

The next floor up is very quiet, without a customer in sight. Kirsty spies a glimmer of green from a pile of stuffed animals and points out a plush black cat with green eyes. Emily looks closer and discovers one of the eyes is her emerald, but the cat is too big for her to carry and a goblin in a toy plane snatches the toy by the tail before either of the girls can grab it. Emily chases the plane and tries to take the cat but gets shoved aside and falls onto the pile of stuffed animals. Rachel distracts the goblin with a bunch of balloons she’s found and makes him crash-land into the other side of the pile, dropping the cat.

Unfortunately, the goblin finds the cat in the pile before the girls do and begins to run away with it. He tries for the stairs but is scared away by the sound of footsteps, then begins tossing toys in their boxes behind him as he runs down an aisle. Emily re-shelves the toys with magic and the girls split up to chase the goblin; Rachel nearly catches him before he zips away on a skateboard. Kirsty can see he’s headed for the open elevator and grabs a toy boomerang. With a little magical help aiming from Emily, Kirsty is able to knock the cat off the skateboard with the boomerang as the goblin and the skateboard roll into the elevator just before the doors shut and the elevator heads upward.

Emily retrieves her emerald from the toy cat’s eye, and sends it to Fairyland as the girls walk towards the stairs. She thanks them for helping her and the other fairies and leaves for Fairyland herself. Back downstairs, Mr. Walker has several bags full of toy train set pieces, most of which are for himself to set up in the attic. Rachel jokes quietly to Kirsty about having a train adventure instead of a fairy adventure next.
