Rachel and Kirsty are walking back home eating their ice creams and remember how Aunt Harri said she’d left a surprise for them there. When they get home, they find two tickets for a tour of the Candy Land sweet factory tomorrow. Mrs Tate asks them if they’d like to bake cupcakes for dessert, and the girls set off measuring out ingredients and things. However, they drop eggs and flour everywhere. For some reason they’re unable to mix the mixture without spilling it anywhere, and some lands on Coco, who is hiding under a cupcake case. She hides in Rachel’s pocket as Mrs Tate enters the kitchen to put the cakes in the oven. They start to make icing, but it turns out grey. When the timer rings, Mrs Tate takes the cupcakes out of the oven - some seem to be burnt and some are raw. Kirsty asks her mum if they can buy cupcakes from Cupcake Corner instead, and she agrees.

When the girls get there, they see Goblins inside. They turn into fairies and observe from a cake stand. Jack Frost is there too, talking to the baker. He’s placing an order for cupcakes to make a throne out of, and although the baker is confused at his plan, he makes a start on the order, with Jack Frost waiting at the counter. He reveals a cupcake charm from inside his cape and gives it to a goblin, leaving them to wait for the cupcakes. Coco tries to grab it from his hand, but he swipes at her, knocking over a table of cupcakes. The goblins grab at them, messing up the shop. Coco magics up a layer of icing on the floor to trip the goblins up, and the goblin with the charm drops it, leaving Coco to pick it up. For their greediness, Coco gives them one measly little cupcake with a throne decoration, and the goblins leave sulkily. She thanks the girls and leaves, as the baker comes out of the kitchen to say he’s done. Rachel suggests he sets up a cupcake sale outside since people will be coming home from work at this time. The baker manages to sell all of Jack Frost’s cupcakes, and promises the girls a free cupcake if they come back. When they get home, they find two cupcakes with ‘thank you’ written on them, which Mrs Tate thinks the girls bought to give to Aunt Harri for their tickets.

Trivia[]

  • Her US name was originally Clara before being changed back to Coco.

Etymology[]

Coco's name comes from the powder made of cocoa seeds, cocoa. Cocoa powder is used to give chocolate flavouring to food and products, since both chocolate and cocoa are made from cocoa seeds.
