Rachel and Kirsty are camping with Mr and Mrs Walker, chatting about what their plans for the day are. Mr Walker suggests they go to the house of a local artist, Sara Sketchley where she’s holding a drawing class. When they get to the house, the girls find the drawing class starting. Kirsty starts to take her art supplies out of her bag when she feels Annabelle’s wings inside. The girls agree to help her, but Sara is ready to start the drawing class by having everyone sketch the roses in the garden. However, she loses her skill and her pencil breaks. While she goes into her house to get another one, Rachel and Kirsty walk around looking at the other children’s art - they’re terrible. All except one boy in green dungarees who, unsurprisingly, is a goblin. The goblin sees Annabelle and runs into the hedge maze.
Annabelle turns the girls into fairies to find the goblin faster, and they see there are four goblins in the maze, messing around with sketchbook paper. The fairies intervene to stop them littering, and Annabelle deduces that none of these goblins have the her magic pencil sharpener. Somewhere else in the maze, they find the artist goblin sketching a garden gnome. Kirsty decides what they should do, and the girls turn human size again. They approach the goblin and compliment his drawing skills. They ask him to draw a picture of them and his drawing is so impressive, they ask him to teach them how to draw. Kirsty suggests they practise by drawing the goblin, and he agrees. Kirsty breaks the tip of her pencil and asks the goblin for a pencil sharpener but the goblin recognises the girls and starts to run away. Rachel calls on Annabelle’s help, and she magics up lifelike drawings of hedges to block the goblin in the maze. He starts panicking, and gives the sharpener back to Annabelle. The other goblins join him and berate him for losing the sharpener.
The girls make their way back to the workshop, and Annabelle bids them goodbye and leaves. Sara’s back and has drawn a good picture of a rose, and everyone starts drawing something. Just as Rachel’s parents and Artie arrive, Sara praises the girls’ drawings (of Annabelle and Fairyland).
Trivia[]
- Her Persian name is آنابلا (Annabella).
